Finding the perfect Engagement Ring

An engagement ring is something that you will wear for the rest of your life (well, most married women at least.) So, what do you do when it comes to finding the perfect engagement ring for you? Was it a total surprise? Or did you have a hand in picking it out at your favorite jewelry store (or even designing it?) Before I got engaged, I actually sent my (then) fiance a link to the ring I wanted, a 14K rose gold Asscher Morganite ring from etsy.

I had been eyeing it for years. It was just so delicate, vintage, and just me. That’s the thing with engagement rings. You don’t need to have the most expensive ring (especially if you can’t afford it.) And you don’t need to go with the trends either…who really cares? Diamond? Pearl? Morganite? Rose Gold? Whatever. You are the one that is going to be wearing that ring for the rest of your life, so you should like it! (And don’t let any snooty jewelry-counter sales-person try to look down on your ring either…) I had that experience at a jewelry store where the lady behind the counter asked what my ring was, and then gave this condescending response of “Oh.” Not only did she offend my fiance with her rudeness, but she insulted me even more because I was the one to actually pick it out! (Guess what, she didn’t make a sale that day…we went somewhere else to purchase our wedding bands.)

I recently saw a photo on Whitney Port’s website about her proposal with a sketch of her engagement ring. Umm…gorgeous! (And it’s rose gold…yay!!) She helped out designing it herself. (Hey Whitney…need a wedding photographer? )

If you’re able to, I think designing your own wedding ring is an awesome idea to have a ring that is 100% unique and 100% you.

However, whether your fiance surprises you with a ring, you send him a link (hehe), or design it yourself, the most important thing is…you’re getting married!!
